MILLING RECYCLE PROGRAM

Mastertech offers a full-service face mill program. The benefits of the program include: elimination of the need for our customers to preset their cutters after use. Elimination of the need to manage insert inventory. Ensure each time the cutter is set it is set accurately and in tolerance. Reduces the need to have access stock as reset turnaround is 3 days once received at MDP.

The program begins with Mastertech understanding your application and offering the best cutter and insert configuration for the job. If your company will be involved with the exchange program, we will take replacing your existing cutters one for one at no charge with purchase of inserts to initially load the cutter. Mastertech will replace your supplied cutter with an equal in diameter and number of pockets of your current cutter (based on MDP standards). MDP will load and accurately set your cutter with new inserts and supply in ready to run condition. After the cutter is run and pulled from the machine it is simply placed in the outgoing box supplied by Mastertech. Once the cutters are accumulated the box of cutters is returned to Mastertech for resetting. Mastertech will then remove the used inserts, clean the cutter, fix any minor ding or dents, replace any damaged hardware, to bring the cutter back to good working condition, reset the cutter with fresh insert, preset thecutter back to original cutter preset cutting height and return to the customer in ready to run condition.

The program cycle then repeats.

Exchange criteria:
With a minimum exchange of 3 cutters to start the program the customer is able to join into the Mastertech exchange program. MDP will replace the existing cutters with an agreed upon diameter and number of pockets cutter. A minimum purchase of one set of inserts to fill the exchanged cutter is required. After the first batch of inserts are purchased, the customer doesn’t pay new insert cost as long as the cutter stays in production.

  • Assurance that each cutter is set correctly and accurately each time.
  • One low insert and reset cost.
  • There is a tangible cost savings that is associated with eliminating employee down time while processing and resetting used cutters in house.
  • Accurate budgeting allocated to inventory for the program once in process.
  • Cutter turnaround once MDP receives the box is 3 days.
The Recycle Program

Step 1
MDP provides the customer with brand new cutters loaded with new inserts set and ready to run. We will stock quantities of any cutters (standard or special) that are part of a program. MDP also provides a pelican case for safe shipping back and forth between companies.

Step 2
Customer runs the loaded and preset cutter to life.

Step 3
Customer returns used cutters to Mastertech for recycle processing in the provided case.

Step 4
Mastertech removes used inserts, cleans the milling cutters removing material debris, inspects the cutters for structural integrity, replaces any damaged screws / clamps, reloads the cutter and presets with refreshed inserts.
Step 5
Mastertech returns the refreshed cutters to the customer in ready to run condition, in the protective case. Once the cutters are used again, the cycle repeats.
